Buell W. Frazier and the Vietnam draft - Lee Abbott - 06-04-2016

Does anyone know why Buell W. Frazier wasn't drafted, while EVERYONE else his age had to serve in the 1960s, unless they were gay, communist, physically or mentally unsound or had a college deferment (Frazier didn't)? ... I have a feeling Oswald never had a long paper bag that morning and Frazier was given a deal of some kind to say Oswald had one.

I was unable to find anything about this. Might Larry Hancock* know something?

However, in looking I stumbled across an interesting exchange on Greg Parker's forum. Greg is an Australian critic. The exchange can be read here and includes an excellent summation of what we know about Buell Wesley Frazier:

Larry Harris was killed in a car crash in the late 90s......I only found out from reading Michael Benson's encyclopedia of the assassination some years later. I knew him in the 80s when I was pretty much a student and into my mid 20s on trips to Dallas. I don't recall this subject ever coming up. Frazier is still alive and sort of active in Dallas every Nov. I expect if you contacted the Mary Ferrell Foundation they would know......about avoiding the draft.

This is based on a hunch hey Lee.....? Or "The paper bag that never was" By Ian Griggs...? (a silly chapter in an other wise good book that he wrote).....

I reckon by now we would know. Frazier must be in his mid 70s by now....he's had plenty of time to talk....

Re: Buell W. Frazier and the Vietnam draft - Patrick C - 06-06-2016

Anyone interested, this is the alleged car that Frazier drove himself and Oswald to work on 22 Nov 1963

Owned by a company called Ripleys - I have no idea where the actual car location is in the USA...

This is based on a hunch hey Patrick?

And if Buell Frazier DID talk you wouldn't believe him anyway if his story changed, so there we are.

Given that you disagree with everything in Griggs' book, what is in it that makes you characterize it as "good?"

"Given that you disagree with everything in Griggs' book, what is in it that makes you characterize it as "good?"...

I disagree with Tony Summers, but I would recommend his book as a go to book on conspiracy theory on JFK. You do not have to agree with book to label it as a good book.

By good I mean well laid out, well presented arguments and accurate basic facts for the most part.

Anyway, I have not looked at Grigg's book in perhaps 5 years and I am sure as anything not going to dig it out now. As a retired cop, he clearly has some good insights into the case and he spent a lot of time in Dallas. Is his conclusion wrong. Yep. IMO.

Re: Buell W. Frazier and the Vietnam draft - David Healy - 06-07-2016

Well Mr. Collins, this might be interesting -- what conclusions in Griggs book are wrong and why are they wrong?

David Healy Wrote:Well Mr. Collins, this might be interesting -- what conclusions in Griggs book are wrong and why are they wrong?

This would really be done in a new thread, though, David. This one is about Buell Frazier and why he wasn't drafted. Ian Griggs' book is excellent in all aspects and could use a thread of its own.

I apologize for turning the discussion to Ian Griggs. Mea culpa, mea culpa.

Re: Buell W. Frazier and the Vietnam draft - David Healy - 06-08-2016

actually Mr. Puffer I realized that immediately after I hit submit. Unfortunately, I could not find my response to edit it... Gonna take a while to find my way around this format...
