John McAdams loves the term “factoid,” which to him means something presented as a fact which is not true. However, the greatest purveyors of factoids are the LNers. I am starting this thread to get a collection of their commonly used factoids. Here's the first. Let's see how many we can come up with.

LN factoid:
“The FBI had a guy fire LHO's rifle and they didn't find any nitrates on his cheek either. The round is sealed in the chamber for a bolt-action rifle.”

Refutation from Pat Speer when debating David Von Pein:
“most CTs incorrectly claiming the cheek test always showed gunshot residue when someone fired a rifle are conflating the tests performed by the FBI for nitrates with the tests performed FOR the FBI by the AEC (that are still considered scientific and accepted in court). These tests found that yessirree, gunshot residue was ALWAYS present on the cheek when one fired a Mannlicher-Carcano rifle. This is discussed in far greater detail than anywhere else in chapter 4d of my website. It is, at least so far, the definitive study of this issue, miles and miles beyond anything Bugliosi would ever dream of.”

My favorite factoid that believers repeatedly assert is that Oswald was the only person missing from a mythical roll call.

This has been repeatedly refuted, yet believers simply wait a few weeks or a few months, then spout it again. We know beyond any reasonable doubt that the following people were missing at the time that it's claimed only Oswald was missing:

Jack Charles Cason - President of School Book Depositary - left the building at 12:10 p.m. and went home. (VOL:22 640)

Gloria Jean Holt - clerk at TSBD - did not return after shooting. (VOL:19.526) (VOL:22.652)

Sharon Simmons Nelson, Secretary, (VOL:19.256;VOL: 22-P.665) did not return.

Bonnie Richey, Secretary, (VOL22.671) did not return.

Carolyn Arnold (VOL:22.635) did not return.

Mrs. Donald Baker, Clerk, did not return (VOL:22.635)

Judy Marie Johnson (VOL22.256) did not return.

Mrs. Stella Mae Jacob (VOL:22.665) did not return.

Charles Givens did not come back.

Virginia H. Brnum - McGraw-Hill employee does not return (VOL:22.636)

Vida Lee Whatley, Clerk, does not return.(VOL:22.680)

Warren Caster (VOL;22.641;VOL 26.738) eating lunch in Denton.

Oswald was not the only person who did not return to work. Fact.

However that others did not return to work is hardly surprising and is frankly not that important.

Oswald did not return to work and combined with other factors in the case - for example that his gun was found in the building in which he worked, is just one more thing which indicates his guilt.

Not the point. This thread deals with LN factoids. Perhaps you would not claim LHO was the only employee not to return to work, but your brethren commonly return to this claim, and this is the point being made.

How would the "jet effect" fare in the factoid thread? The believers like it when they're trying to describe why Kennedy was thrown backwards, but then conversely it contradicts some Warren apologists who note Kennedy's body went forward just before Z313.

I don't think that's a factoid, it's just stupid. Neither would the SBT be. A factoid is something that's not arguable at all. It's simply not true. For example,

"The official government position is that Oswald was a lone assassin."

Or, "Jack Ruby shot Oswald because he did not want Jackie to have to return to Dallas for a trial."

Not true and easily shown false. The stupid stuff, of which there is plenty, is not as easily shown to be false.

Well, yeah, but there is a difference, isn't there? The others left the building before the shooting. LHO was inside at the time of the shooting and left soon afterwards to go to the movies. Apparently, the real drama of a presidential assassination attempt right under his nose wasn't exciting enough for him.
